Duties Description This position resides on the Workstation Delivery Team in the Bureau of Security & Workstation Management within the Chief Information Office.
• Image, configure, and patching end user devices.
• Periodic travel between sites including overnight stays.
• Configure workstations, mobile devices, and peripherals.
• Update and resolve tickets per Service Level Agreements.
• Troubleshoot desktop related technical issues.
• Create and edit technical and procedural documentation.

Minimum Qualifications Civil Service examinations are not required under the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide (NY HELPS) Program.
Non-Competitive Qualifications for appointment under the NYHELPS Program:
For an appointment to an Information Technology Specialist 2, you must have:
• A bachelor's or higher-level degree in any field and one year of experience in information technology.
OR
• A bachelor's or higher-level degree, including or supplemented by 15 credit hours in computer science courses.
OR
• 60 semester credit hours including or supplemented by 15 semester credit hours in computer science and one year of professional experience in information technology.
OR
• A total of two years of experience in information technology.
Competitive Minimum Qualifications:
You must be currently reachable on the appropriate eligible list for this title, eligible under the 55 b/c program, or eligible to transfer to this title under Section 52.6, 70.1, or 70.4 of the Civil Service Law.
Transfer:
For 52.6, 70.1, or 70.4 transfer to an Information Technology Specialist 2, salary grade (SG)-18, you must have one year of permanent competitive, or 55-b/55-c service in an approved title for transfer allocated to an SG-16 or above.

Appointments via transfer must not result in a second, consecutive transfer with an advancement of more than two S-grades or one M-grade.
Non-Competitive promotion (NCP) qualifications:
You must be a qualified employee of the Office of the New York State Comptroller and have had one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service as an Information Technology Specialist 1.
NCP notes:
If the number of interested candidates who meet the promotional qualifications is three or less, the agency; at its discretion, may nominate one or more of the candidates for a noncompetitive promotion without further examination under the provisions of Section 52.7 of the Civil Service Law.
If the number of interested candidates who meet the promotional qualifications is more than three, the agency; at its discretion, may nominate one or more of the candidates for a provisional promotion under the provisions of Section 65 of the Civil Service Law.

Additional Comments Preferred Qualifications/Knowledge, skills, and abilities:

• Demonstrated experience with computer hardware troubleshooting and repair (3 months to less than 1 year).
• Demonstrated experience with MS Active Directory (3 months to less than 1 year).
• Demonstrated experience with MS 365 (3 months to less than 1 year).
• Demonstrated experience with Windows Desktop (3 months to less than 1 year).
• Demonstrated experience with imaging laptops and desktops.
• Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Outlook.
• Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Bookings.
• Demonstrated experience in troubleshooting desktop related technical issues, including, but not limited to, software installation and configurations, MS Group Policies, MS Active Directory group permissions, basic desktop networking configurations, workstation peripherals, and computer hardware related issues.
• Demonstrated experience with customer service.
• Demonstrated strong verbal and written communication skills. This includes the ability to effectively communicate with both technical staff and customers.
• Demonstrated experience with developing written material such as installation instructions and documentation.
• Demonstrated ability to be reliable and punctual.
• Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
• Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

Telecommuting: The Office of the New York State Comptroller (OSC) supports telecommuting where it is reasonable to do so based upon the agency’s mission and operational needs. Generally, employees new to OSC will be restricted from telecommuting for at least 8 calendar weeks. After the initial 8 calendar week restriction, if an employee’s primary residence location, duties, and work performance are aligned with telecommuting and operational needs they may be allowed to do so. Generally, OSC employees may telecommute up to 5 days per pay period but may be approved to telecommute less.
