Duties Description This position will function as the Assistant Caretaker at Caroga Lake Campground . Will be required to assists with the supervision of staff and facility when Caretaker is absent. Related tasks include but are not limited to: ensuring staff follow state policies and guidance. Assistant caretakers are required to stay overnight as scheduled, typically 2 midweek nights.
Customer service related tasks include but are not limited to: checking in campers, answering questions and resolving problems.
General labor related tasks include but are not limited to: handling money, water and septic monitoring, cleaning of the grounds, showers, comfort stations, and other buildings.
Completing daily, weekly and monthly paperwork related tasks include but are not limited to: daily and weekly financial reports, health department mandated reports.
Communication related tasks include but are not limited to: addressing patron complaints, issuing warnings and performing patron evictions, coordinating during an emergency, regular calls/emails/in-person meetings with regional staff.
Minimum Qualifications Must be at least 18 years of age and have and maintain a valid driver’s license.
Additional Comments This is a seasonal, hourly appointment with an anticipated end date of 11/30/2026. Program needs and funding will determine actual termination date.
Actual work schedule, duties and travel requirements may vary and will be discussed at the interview.
Must have a valid driver’s license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position.
Must be able to negotiate difficult terrain.
Must be able to work in remote areas.
Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions.
Overtime may be required.
Overnight travel may be required.
Weekends and holidays may be required.
Must be available for emergency response.
Must be available to respond to after-hours emergencies.
Per federal government requirements, if you are appointed to this position, you may be required to undergo fingerprinting and a state and federal criminal background check.
Must be able to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds.
