Harriman State Park, located in Rockland and Orange counties and bordering Bear Mountain State Park, is the second-largest park in the NYS parks system, with 31 lakes and reservoirs, 200 miles of hiking trails, two beaches, two public camping areas, a network of group camps, miles of streams and scenic roads, and scores of wildlife species, vistas and vantage points. Harriman State Park's major facilities include Lakes Welch, Sebago, Tiorati and Silvermine, Sebago Cabins and Beaver Pond Campgrounds. Harriman sees over 1.5 million visitors a year.

The education program at Trailside Museums & Zoo seeks to bring visitors into meaningful contact with the plants, animals, geology, and history of the Hudson Highlands, specifically what can be found along the trails of Bear Mountain and Harriman State Parks.

Job duties:
• Serve as an informal educator, providing both scheduled and impromptu topical presentations and activities at locations throughout Harriman State Park popular with visitors.
• Work with Interpretive staff in planning enhancements to programs.
• Connect visitors with nature in the park, bringing awareness to how humans impact these natural places, and inspiring our visitors to become stewards of the parks in which they recreate and enjoy.
