Duties Description Under the direction of Senior Information Security Analyst SG-23, within the DOH Dedicated Support Team, the candidate will perform a wide range of cybersecurity tasks, including security controls auditing, vulnerability management, incident response, and proactive risk mitigation to protect State information systems and data.
Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
· Conducts technical security reviews and assessments of applications, systems, and infrastructure to identify control gaps and risk areas.
· Audits and validates implementation of security controls to ensure compliance with NYS policies, standards, and best practices.
· Supports incident response activities by performing technical analysis, coordinating response actions, and developing after-action remediation steps.
· Develops and tracks vulnerability remediation plans based on results from security scans, reviews, or incidents.
· Coordinates with client agencies and internal ITS teams to provide guidance on secure system design and risk mitigation strategies.
· Monitors industry trends and threat intelligence to recommend improvements to the organization’s cybersecurity posture.
· Assists with the development and implementation of internal processes for tracking, auditing, and reporting on security control effectiveness.
· Participates in planning and execution of security-related initiatives.
Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree* with at least 15 credit hours in cybersecurity, information assurance, or information technology.
*Substitution: bachelor's degree candidates without at least 15 course credits in cyber security, information assurance, or information technology require an additional year of general information technology experience to qualify. Appropriate information security or information assurance experience may substitute for the bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis; an associate's degree requires an additional two years of general information technology experience.
Additional Comments ITS will not offer permanent employment to any candidate unless the candidate provides documentation that they are authorized to accept work in the United States on a permanent basis. It is the policy of ITS not to hire F1 or H1 visa holders for permanent employment or to sponsor non-immigrant aliens for temporary work authorization visas or for permanent residence.

If eligible, positions located in New York City will receive an additional $3,400 downstate adjustment location pay with regular annual salary. Positions located in the Mid-Hudson will receive an additional $1,650 adjustment location pay.
