Duties Description This position will assist with various IT-related areas including but not limited to Networking, Hardware, Software and Applications, Telephony, Project Management and Cyber Security. Duties include:
• Assisting with formulation of long-range vision and implementation strategies for IT improvements enterprise-wide;
• Assisting with Enterprise Application requirement gathering, timelines, testing, training and rollout;
• Monitoring completed projects to ensure proper functionality and escalate if issues are encountered;
• Preparing and/or assist with communication plans, development of technical procedures, testing customizations, and maintenance of applications;
• Coordinating communications with IT teams (Cyber, ICS & Network Services) on planned network maintenance and unplanned outages;
• Coordinating and develop strategies for updating Canal internal and external web sites;
• Reviewing and make recommendations on IT equipment purchases (laptops, desktops, printers, etc.);
• Assisting in the development of various IT hardware and software training modules for Canal employees;
• Coordinating software recommendations, purchases and approvals;
• Developing formalized process to track Canal IT assets;
• Assisting various Canal business units to gather IT-related information for projects;
• Reviewing and approve enterprise software renewals and maintain licenses and upgrade schedules;
• Assisting with troubleshooting IT-related application issues and act as point of escalation for Canal employee IT Issues;
• Tracking Canal IT expenditures and prepare annual IT budget;
• Overseeing administration of various applications and systems and;
• Communicating new projects requested by Canal business units.
Minimum Qualifications Candidates must have one year of permanent competitive service in a title eligible for transfer under the provisions of Sections 52.6 or 70.1 of the Civil Service Law. Eligible titles include but are not limited to: Information Technology Specialist 3, Information Technology Specialist 3 (Database), Information Technology Specialist 3 (Systems Programming), Chief Computer Operator.

Additional Comments PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience working with Microsoft O365 (including Office products, SharePoint, Teams and OneDrive), File Storage Architecture, Content Server, ProjectWise, Checkpoint, Proofpoint, EarthCam, ESRI GIS platforms. Familiarity with networking concepts and terminology.
