Duties Description This position provides supervision, training, evaluation and other administrative tasks to subordinate seasonal staff.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Follow Department procurement procedures and make appropriate purchases for tools, supplies, materials as required.
- Perform entry level work including, but not limited to, masonry, electrical, carpentry and plumbing, tree cutting, brush/snow removal and other manual tasks.
- Assist journey level staff with install, troubleshoot and repair pumps, motors, floats, solenoids and associated equipment for lift stations and control panels in our facilities.
- Operate various hand power tools associated with all phases of construction.
Minimum Qualifications One year as a Facility Operations Assistant 1 or Motor Vehicle Operator; OR, two years of full-time, verifiable experience in custodial, grounds, or maintenance operation or assisting in a journey-level trade. Incumbents must possess and maintain a valid New York State driver's license appropriate for the type of vehicle being operated.
Additional Comments Must have a valid driver’s license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position.
Must be able to negotiate difficult terrain.
Must be able to work in remote areas.
Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions.
Overtime may be required.
Weekends and holidays may be required.
Must be available for emergency response.
Must be available to respond to after-hours emergencies.
Must be able to lift and move objects up to 80 pounds.

For new State employees appointed to graded positions, the annual salary is the hiring rate (beginning of the Salary Range) of the position. Promotion salaries are calculated by the NYS Office of the State Comptroller in accordance with NYS Civil Service Law, OSC Payroll rules and regulations and negotiated union contracts.
