Duties Description This position will work in collaboration to oversee the Region 7 Bureau of Wildlife. Duties will include 1) Program Management; oversight of all Region 7 wildlife programs (nuisance wildlife response, threatened and endangered species conservation, hunter education, management of big and small game species, and public land management), 2) Personnel Management; leadership and supervision of regional program staff, 3) Program Administration; wildlife program planning, budgeting, and reporting, 4) Public Outreach; representing DEC Region 7 at public meetings and working collaboratively with other agencies, organizations, and stakeholder groups; 5) Communication and Information Transfer; serving as a member of statewide Bureau of Wildlife Management Team; 6) Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications Reassignment - Currently in the title and an employee of DEC
or
Reinstatement Eligible - Previously held the title on a permanent competitive basis or held a title as indicated under the transfer eligible section on a permanent competitive basis.
or
Transfer Eligible under Section 70.1 - One year of permanent competitive service as a Biologist 2 (Aquatic), (Ecology), (Marine) or (Wildlife), SG23.
Additional Comments Must have a valid driver’s license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position.
Must be able to negotiate difficult terrain.
Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions.
Travel may be required.
Overtime may be required.
Weekends and holidays may be required.
Must be available for emergency response.
Telecommuting may be available, will be discussed at interview.

For new State employees appointed to graded positions, the annual salary is the hiring rate (beginning of the Salary Range) of the position. Promotion salaries are calculated by the NYS Office of the State Comptroller in accordance with NYS Civil Service Law, OSC Payroll rules and regulations and negotiated union contracts.
