Duties Description The New York State Insurance Fund (NYSIF), with over $20 billion of assets under management, is seeking an experienced private markets investment professional to execute investment opportunities in its growing, internally managed private markets portfolio. Salary will be commensurate with experience.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Design and lead the diligence process for potential investments in private markets, including private equity, private credit and real assets.
• Assist in sourcing and screening investment opportunities.
• Develop analytical and forecast models.
• Prepare investment memos and create PowerPoint presentations related to investment recommendations, portfolio performance, and market updates.
• Conduct market research to stay informed about market trends, economic conditions, and regulatory changes impacting private markets.
• Build and maintain relationships with external consultants, general partners, limited partners, and other stakeholders.
• Mentor and guide junior team members, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
• Support leadership on ad hoc projects related to strategy development, asset allocation and market studies.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.
Minimum Qualifications • A minimum of seven years of experience in sourcing and evaluating primary and/or secondary private market comingled fund opportunities.
• Demonstrated high level of integrity and ethical standards in investment practices.
• Advanced proficiency in Excel for developing M&A and fund cash flow models to facilitate analysis and forecasting.
• Preference may be given to candidates who have obtained their MBA, Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), or Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) credential.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Excellent leadership and team management abilities.
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with ability to interpret complex financial data.
• Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
• Familiarity with industry financial tools such as Bloomberg, CapitalIQ, eFront, Pitchbook, MSCI – Private Capital Private i, and others.

All exempt appointments require completion of a background check by the NYS Governor’s Office of Appointments prior to appointment and completion of an annual Financial Disclosure Statement upon appointment offer.
As this position is not tenure-bearing, except under specific circumstances, the employment relationship can be altered at any time by either the incumbent or the appointing authority.
Please note, the salary range displayed includes special salary treatments, such as location pay.
Salary within the posted range will be commensurate with experience. Please note, NYSIF does not offer bonus programs as part of our compensation program.
