Duties Description Under the direction of a Technology Analyst 2 (RAD) within the Digital Transformation Office, Digital Experience Bureau, Human-Center Design Section the Technology Analyst 1 (RAD), is a technical individual contributor responsible for leading the design, configuration, implementation, and delivery of NY-branded digital products and shared services. This role works in close partnership with product managers, designers, and agency stakeholders to translate needs into scalable technical solutions across a portfolio that includes a mix of buy/configure, open-source platforms, and targeted custom build work. Senior Product Engineers are deployed into cross-functional squads and are expected to operate with high autonomy, guide technical decisions, and mentor junior engineers. This role treats quality, testing, and operational readiness as core engineering responsibilities.
Specific duties for this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Collaborate with Product Managers, UX, and engineers to refine requirements into technical tasks, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
• Build and enhance product capabilities through configuration, integration, and custom development aligned to engineering standards and patterns.
• Implement and support APIs, data integrations, and modern web features required for shared services.
• Contribute to automated testing and delivery workflows; participate in code review and documentation.
• Support deployment and troubleshooting activities across environments; assist in resolving defects and operational issues.
• Maintain clear technical documentation and implementation notes to support continuity across squads.
Minimum Qualifications Five (5) years of *information technology experience, one (1) year of which must be within the appropriate specialty
***Substitutions: Associate’s degree with 15 semester credit hours in computer science or a related field substitutes for one year of general information technology experience. Candidates in a bachelor’s degree program with at least 15 semester credit hours in computer science or a related field can substitute for one year of general information technology experience.
Bachelor’s degree in any field including or supplemented by fifteen (15) semester credit hours in computer science or a related field substitutes for three years substitutes for three (3) years of general information technology experience. Any bachelor’s degree substitutes for two years of general information technology experience. Master’s degree or higher in computer science or related field substitutes for one year of general information technology experience.
**Specialty includes experience within one or more of the following information technology disciplines: artificial intelligence, cloud solutions, human centered design, product management, quality assurance, rapid application development, robotic product management, geospatial information services.
Preferred Qualifications:
• 3–5+ years experience in software development, platform implementation, or related technical delivery.
• Experience building modern web and/or API solutions and working in agile delivery teams.
• Ability to learn new platforms quickly and contribute effectively with guidance from senior engineers.
• Exposure to open-source platforms, COTS configuration, or integration-heavy product delivery.
• Familiarity with cloud services and modern CI/CD concepts.
• Experience working under security/accessibility constraints.

If eligible, positions located in New York City will receive an additional $3,400 downstate adjustment location pay with regular annual salary. Positions located in the Mid-Hudson will receive an additional $1,650 adjustment location pay.
