Duties Description Develops, implements and directs major program areas for fisheries, with responsibility for program planning, budgeting and personnel management;

Develops and directs special projects of regional significance (e.g., Oneida lake fisheries monitoring and management);

Assists in the review and development of regulations pertaining to the use and management of fisheries;

Leads the development of regional fisheries plans and assists in the development of statewide management plans;

Assists in the preparation, review, and implementation of policies and procedures for regional fisheries programs;

Provides direction and oversight to staff members to ensure compliance with goals; establishes workload priorities consistent with the annual work plan; and prepares and manages the regions annual budget and monitors expenditures;

May supervise other R7 Division of Fish & Wildlife Bureaus

Minimum Qualifications Reassignment - Currently in the title and an employee of DEC
or

Reinstatement Eligible - Previously held the title on a permanent competitive basis or held a title as indicated under the transfer eligible section on a permanent competitive basis.
or

Transfer Eligible - One year of permanent competitive service at Salary Grade 23 or higher and either:

Eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 - One year of permanent competitive service as a Biologist 3 (Aquatic), (Ecology), (Marine) or (Wildlife), SG25.
or

Eligible for transfer under Section 52.6: Must have current or prior service in a title designated as 52.6 within two salary grades\one M grade of this position. To determine if your title is designated as 52.6 go to the Department of Civil Service website http://www.cs.ny.gov/ and search for your title under GOT-IT.

Additional Comments Must have a valid driver’s license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position.
Must be able to negotiate difficult terrain.
Must be able to work in remote areas.
Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions.
Travel may be required.
