Duties Description
Perform office support and clerical work to meet the requirements of agency programs. Such work may consist of, but not be limited to: data entry; math or calculations; mail, supply, and inventory-related tasks; keyboarding and other document preparation tasks; answering telephones; completing forms; assisting customers; creating or assisting in the preparation of reports, charts, graphs, and tables; and other related activities. This work is accomplished in accordance with applicable procedures, rules, regulations, and laws. Office Assistants 3’s typically act as second-level supervisors within a large clerical or office support operation and generally supervise two or more Office Assistants 2.

This position is responsible for the supervision of the Incoming, Special Handling, and Receiving Mail Units within a mailroom providing office support and completing clerical work to meet the requirements of agency programs. Such work may consist of but not be limited to data entry; mail, supply, and inventory related tasks; document preparation; assisting customers; creating or assisting in the preparation of reports, charts, graphs, and tables; and other related activities.

Minimum Qualifications You must be currently reachable on the appropriate eligible list for this title or eligible to transfer to this title under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.

70.1 Transfer:
For a 70.1 transfer to a(n) Office Assistant 3, SG-14, you must have one year of permanent competitive service in an approved 70.1 title allocated to a salary grade 12 or above.

Appointments via transfer must not result in a second, consecutive transfer with an advancement of more than two S-grades or one M-grade.
