Duties Description This position is public facing and will deal with park patrons daily. Candidate will be able to communicate effectively with staff and customers, enforcing rules and regulations to ensure the safety of all park employees and visitors.

The incumbent:

-May be required to supervise a staff of up to 25 employees, including teams with different job duties.

-Monitors and oversees fee collection and verification activities.

-Handles complaints or inquiries from park patrons regarding the quality of their experience, the cleanliness of facilities, noise from other facility users, and other related customer service issues.

-May be required to respond to emergencies day or night, assisting law enforcement if necessary.

-Responsible for overseeing infrastructure, including water and sewer treatment systems.

-Must have dependable transportation and be able to work assigned shifts.

-Must be punctual, reporting for work on time. Shift work may be required when assigned to booth areas or shower building cleaning.

-Must live on-site for the duration of camping season.

-Must be able, where applicable, to do manual work in park such as picking up litter, raking, pushing lawnmowers, and cleaning comfort stations, rest rooms and buildings.

-Must be able to communicate with others and accept direction. All tasks are to be conducted in a safe manner, with any injuries/illnesses reported immediately to supervisor.

-Must be even tempered and capable of communicating with the public. Provide patrons with information regarding park facilities and use.

-Must be able to handle and account for money and complete necessary Revenue
Reports.

Must be capable of operating a personal computer.

Responsibilities during off season include:

-Responding to emergency situations if necessary

-Developing annual work plans

-Maintaining SDS manuals for up to six facilities

-Assisting Operations crews with maintenance projects

-Planning recruitment efforts for the upcoming season

-Creating new interpretive programming

-Managing winter visitation

Minimum Qualifications Candidates must have one year of satisfactory experience in maintenance, construction, landscaping or in a business operation.* At least 6 months of such experience must be at the supervisory level. Must be at least 18 years of age and have and maintain a valid driver's license.
*Experience in a business operation must include responsibilities dealing with the public, customer service and daily financial reporting and processing.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience with NYSDEC facility infrastructure; Knowledge of NYSDEC campground rules and regulations; Knowledge of operation and maintenance of chlorinated water system; First Aid/CPR/certified; Game of Logging certified.

Additional Comments This is a hourly appointment currently funded through 3/31/2027, with a likelihood of continuing beyond that date. Program needs and funding will determine actual termination date.

Weekends and holidays may be required.
Must be available for emergency response.
Must be available to respond to after-hours emergencies.
Must provide 24-hour response on a rotational basis and work during normal business hours.
Must Reside in State Housing.
