Duties Description The Supervising Carpenter will be responsible for directing skilled and semi-skilled employees. Have project over-site with a concentration on training and mentoring trade level staff. The incumbent must have knowledge of the carpentry trade showing the ability to plan, layout and complete various types of carpentry work. Will be responsible for setting schedules, ordering supplies and overseeing all phases of the construction project and/or building management projects. Good verbal communication skills and coordination skills are vital in respect to getting the plans and design specifications assigned to appropriate staff. Must be able to provide hands-on support, providing direction and control during all phases of the project. May oversee and direct contractors in making sure required specifications are met. Must keep written records of work performed and materials used. Must have the ability to read and comprehend blueprints and review concerns with Central Office Engineering staff.
Minimum Qualifications One year of experience as a skilled journey-level carpenter subsequent to the completion of apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience.
When required to operate motor vehicles, candidates must possess a valid New York
State driver's license appropriate for the type of vehicle to be operated.
Additional Comments This is a hourly appointment currently funded through 3/31/2026, with a likelihood of continuing beyond that date. Program needs and funding will determine actual termination date.
Must have a valid driver’s license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position.
