Duties Description The Investigative Auditor performs professional work in the review, analysis, and evaluation of campaign finance activities within the New York State Board of Elections. This position is responsible for examining campaign finance filings, auditing financial records, and applying relevant laws, rules, and regulations to assess compliance. The Investigative Auditor supports program operations through detailed analysis, project work, and collaboration with staff and leadership to ensure the consistent and accurate application of campaign finance requirements.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Conduct comprehensive reviews of campaign finance filings submitted by political committees and candidates, assessing completeness, accuracy, and adherence to applicable laws, rules, regulations, and established criteria.
• Audit the books and records of political committees and candidates as necessary to ensure a complete and thorough assessment of compliance with applicable statutes, rules, regulations, Board opinions, and policies.
• Conduct and manage projects and analyses, including reviews of financial activity, application of relevant legal and regulatory standards, and coordination of associated correspondence and communications.
• Assist in the analysis and review of campaign finance disclosures and filings in connection with complaint processing and related matters.
• Assist in the development and implementation of projects and initiatives related to campaign finance administration and program operations.
• Assist in the calculation and application of contribution limits and other regulatory thresholds in accordance with statutory requirements.
• Review and make determinations related to financial activity and eligibility criteria in accordance with applicable laws, rules, and program requirements.
• Contribute to the development of policy recommendations related to campaign finance administration, oversight, and regulatory requirements.
• Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by senior leadership.
Minimum Qualifications A Bachelor’s Degree + two (2) years of accounting or finance or general business or other related experience; or an Associate’s Degree + four (4) years of accounting or finance or general business or other related experience; or 5 years of other related experience.
