Duties Description This is a full-time, seasonal park maintenance position that assists the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation, and Historic Preservation (OPRHP) in maintaining the park grounds, buildings, structures, and safety within the park.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
• Perform building and grounds upkeep, landscaping, litter control, snow and ice removal, restroom and facility cleanliness
• Assist in basic carpentry including repairing docks, walkways, steps and erosion control
• Operate light trucks and UTV’s
• Assist chainsaw operators with all aspects of tree removal
• Assist in building and repairing paths, trails, benches, and park equipment
• Issue fishing permits, collect park revenue, provide basic information and assistance to park visitors
• Maintain fishing areas including platforms, foot bridges, and plant overgrowth.
• Assist with traffic control and parking vehicles.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
No minimum qualifications per Civil Service.
Additional Comments OPERATIONAL NEEDS:
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license that allows the candidate to legally operate a motor vehicle in New York State as a term and condition of employment.
• Must be at least 18 years old
• Must possess strong organizational and critical thinking skills and the ability to work independently or on a team.
• Must be able to perform physically demanding work for extended periods of time outside and lift up to 50 lbs.
• Must be willing to keep current on all mandated safety trainings, including First Aid and CPR/AED.
