Duties Description The incumbents will provide technical support to Wildlife Biologists in Region 3. Duties will include the supervision of Fish and Wildlife Technicians 1 and 2, and work crews consisting of seasonal and permanent staff, laborers, and volunteers. The incumbents will plan, coordinate, and implement regional or multi-regional biological and specimen collections for division projects, along with managing regional survey databases and monitoring them for completeness and accuracy. They will coordinate and schedule maintenance, access and habitat improvement projects at regional wildlife management areas and will be responsible for field equipment maintenance. Additionally, incumbents will review applications, issue minor program permits, maintain associated databases and assist with the delivery of required staff trainings and conduct inspections for compliance with issued permits. Additional job duties may be assigned based on program needs.

Minimum Qualifications Reassignment - Currently in the title and an employee of DEC
or

Reinstatement Eligible - Previously held the title on a permanent competitive basis or held a title as indicated under the transfer eligible section on a permanent competitive basis
or

Transfer Eligible - One year of permanent competitive service at salary grade 13 or higher and eligible for transfer under Section 70.1: Permanent competitive service as a Fish & Wildlife Technician 2.

Additional Comments Must have a valid driver’s license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position.
Must be able to negotiate difficult terrain.
Must be able to work in remote areas.
Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions.
Travel may be required.
Overnight travel may be required.
Must be able to lift and move objects up to 40 pounds.
Telecommuting may be available up to 50% of work schedule, will be discussed at interview.
