Duties Description The Medical Assistance Specialist 2, G23, will be assigned to the Office of Health Insurance Programs in the Division of Operations and Systems within the Bureau of Provider Enrollment to perform duties and responsibilities of a team lead overseeing a unit of professional staff responsible for the enrollment of providers into the NYS Medicaid Program.
The incumbent will be responsible for:
Overseeing the day-to-day operations of a production unit, including supervision of professional state and contract staff as well as interpreting and clarifying procedures for lower-level staff;
Processing transactions in the Provider Services Portal;
Overseeing the training and quality assurance function throughout the bureau, including developing and updating enrollment policies and procedures and reviewing proposed changes to policies and procedures, determining their impact on operations;
Working with systems staff and counterparts from other program areas to determine best way of enrolling new categories of providers;
Analyzing, reporting on, and making recommendations for efficiencies based on data related to area of responsibility;
Occasionally testifying on behalf of the bureau in legal proceedings.

Minimum Qualifications Reassignment: Current Department of Health (DOH) employee with permanent or contingent-permanent status as a Medical Assistance Specialist 2, G-23.

Transfer:
Current NYS employee with one year or more of permanent or contingent-permanent, competitive service in a title eligible to transfer under Section 52.6 or Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law to a Medical Assistance Specialist 2, G-23.

Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of Medicaid provider enrollment; experience with eMedNY; experience interpreting regulations; strong written and verbal communication skills; experience supervising professional staff.
