Duties Description As a Mental Hygiene Staff Development Specialist 2, you would assist higher-level specialists in planning, organizing, and presenting institution and community-based training programs designed to improve the knowledge and abilities of those responsible for care, program, treatment, and well-being of individuals with mental disabilities in various mental hygiene settings. You would directly participate in training programs, gather data to support the development and organization of training programs, identify training needs, and conduct informational sessions concerning training available.

Minimum Qualifications Candidates from outside or within State Service can be considered for hire under the Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement – Statewide (NY HELPS) as a Mental Hygiene Staff Development Specialist 2 if they have:

One year of experience in the direct preparation and delivery of classroom training in a mental hygiene setting.

Substitution: A bachelor’s degree in a human services field.

OR

Candidates within State Service can be considered for a competitive class appointment if they have 1 year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.
