Duties Description The New York State Office of Information Technology Services (ITS) provides operational support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days of the year, supporting more than 4,900 applications for 53 New York State Agencies.

Under the direction of an IT Director, this MITS 1 position will lead the Taxpayer Accounting Team for the DTF Modernization Effort. The MITS 1 will foster a collaborative work environment and demonstrate excellent leadership skills.

Specific duties include, but are not limited to:

? Oversees all phases of the System Development LifeCycle (SDLC);

? Develops and maintains detailed management plans for major areas of responsibility;

? Defines purpose, scope and objectives of the project for the team;

? Works with counterparts within the organization to ensure compatibility of all initiatives;

? Assigns work to subordinate supervisors. Monitors project progress, reviews major staff initiatives and products, and makes recommendations as appropriate;

? Directs meetings attended by project team(s), agency management, users and IT staff to discuss specific projects;

? Develops alternative solutions to problems and consults with other IT staff and users to evaluate the effectiveness of proposed solutions;

? Develops procedures, standards and internal controls for the conduct of work within the design and support team;

? Monitors compliance and takes appropriate action as needed;

? Writes progress reports for IT and agency management that describe project status including the technical, fiscal, and staffing issues associated with project completion;

? Develops or participates in the development, interpretation, review and communication of IT policies, procedures and standards;

? Analyzes the impact of proposed policy and legislation as they pertain to information systems;

? Leads large scale development projects and mentors new staff members;

? Provides technical support for teams in multiple technologies;

? Performs full range of supervisory responsibilities.

Minimum Qualifications Open to NYS employees with one year of permanent competitive service as a Manager Information Technology Services 1, SG-27/M2, OR in a position at the SG-25 or M1 level or higher deemed administrative under Section 52.6 of Civil Service Law. The transfer cannot be a second consecutive transfer resulting in advancement of more than two salary grades or one M-grade.

Additional Comments ITS will not offer permanent employment to any candidate unless the candidate provides documentation that they are authorized to accept work in the United States on a permanent basis. Fingerprinting and a background check is required for employment with ITS.

Some positions may require up to 25% travel and/or lifting up to 50 lbs. Some positions are pending Civil Service approval. Details of position(s) will be described further if you are selected for an interview.

If eligible, positions located in New York City will receive an additional $4,000 downstate adjustment location pay with regular annual salary. Positions located in the Mid-Hudson will receive an additional $2,000 adjustment location pay.
