Duties Description Kingsboro Psychiatric Center (KPC), an Office of Mental Health (OMH) Joint Commission accredited facility, is recruiting a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) for their inpatient units located in Brooklyn, NY. The shift schedule is Tuesday 12:30AM - 8:30AM, Thursday 4:30PM - Friday 8:30AM, and Saturday 4:30PM - Sunday 8:30AM.
As an FNP at KPC, you will provide patient-centered primary health care to individuals with mental illness 18 years of age or older; including:
• Conducting physical examinations
• Diagnosing and treating health conditions
• Conducting medical assessments and treating urgent medical needs
• Responding to medical emergencies on campus to provide BLS level assessment and management of emergent needs until emergency services arrive
• Maintaining medical records and documentation
About KPC:
KPC, located in Brooklyn, New York, is a community-based mental health facility providing inpatient and outpatient services. KPC delivers person-centered care for young adults through geriatric individuals with multifaceted needs, including complex and co-occurring psychiatric and medical histories, significant substance use, trauma, and forensic histories. KPC delivers comprehensive, integrated services to hospitalized patients and operates three Transitional Living Residences; an 80-bed Family Care Program with certified homes in the community; a satellite clinic on campus; and two community-based outpatient clinics located in the Canarsie and Williamsburg neighborhoods. The clinics provide assessment and treatment planning; health screening and referrals; discharge planning; verbal therapies; medication therapy; medication education; symptoms management; psychiatric rehabilitation readiness determination; case management; crisis management; clinical support; mobile outreach; and family support services.
Minimum Qualifications Candidates from outside or within State Service may be considered for hire under the Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement - Statewide (NY HELPS) program as a Nurse Practitioner Family Health if they have certification and current registration as a Nurse Practitioner in the Family Health specialty practice area by the New York State Education Department.
OR
Candidates from within State Service can be considered for a competitive class appointment if they have one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.

This position is eligible for a Downstate Adjustment of $4,000.
