Duties Description NYMTC seeks to fill a Senior Transportation Analyst position to support regional planning activities in the Technical Group at NYMTC’s Central Office in lower Manhattan. General duties include, but are not limited to the following:

• Supervise staff in support of transportation planning products, processes and tools;
• Develop and maintain transportation planning studies, reports and programs;
• Review activities in support of transportation planning products;
• Design, direct and conduct technical analyses and research to support transportation planning, including surveys, studies, forecasts and modelling;
• Collect and analyze transportation data and statistics to support development of transportation programs and assess transportation system performance and travel behavior;
• Prepare, edit and disseminate informational materials and technical documents related to transportation planning and programs;
• Serve in various capacities on subcommittees or working groups to facilitate development of the required products;
• Possess understanding and knowledge of applicable transportation planning programs, regulations and requirements;
• Possess strong technical background to support transportation planning policies, procedures and data analysis.
Strong written and oral communication skills are preferred. A good working knowledge of Adobe Suite, Microsoft Office including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel or other database programs are highly desirable to perform the duties for this position. Although not required, a working knowledge of Geographic Information Systems.


Responsibilities may include serving a role within the Incident Command System to support the department's response to regional and statewide emergency situations.

Minimum Qualifications To be considered for permanent appointment, candidates must be reachable from the appropriate Civil Service eligible list or be eligible for reassignment or transfer in accordance with Civil Service Law.

The salary range listed reflects the full range for this graded position. For new State employees appointed into graded positions, the annual salary is the hiring rate (beginning of the Salary Range) of the position. Promotion salaries are calculated by the NYS Office of the State Comptroller in accordance with NYS Civil Service Law, OSC Payroll rules and regulations and negotiated union contracts.
