Duties Description In the Office of Health insurance Programs, within the Division of Eligibility and Marketplace Integration's Bureau of Consumer Relations & Local District Support, the Medical Assistance Specialist 2 (MAS 2) position will work as part of the Operations Unit. Responsibilities may include but not be limited to:
Utilizing the Welfare Management System, eMedNY, NY State of Health and Medicaid Eligibility and Client Management system as part of routine Bureau operations, Conducting coverage evaluations to ensure appropriate period and level of coverage for consumers; processing necessary transactions in the appropriate systems to resolve inconsistencies, Performing supervisory review of coverage determinations and clarifying policies and rules as needed, Interpreting and clarifying policies, procedures, and requirements for lower-level staff,
Collaborating with various DOH Offices and other State agencies to resolve consumer inquiries and concerns, Researching and responding verbally and in writing to inquiries from internal and external stakeholders, Providing information and assistance with internal and external audits. Participating in or leading special projects as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications Reassignment:
Current Department of Health (DOH) employee with permanent or contingent-permanent status as a Medical AssistanceSpecialist 2, G-23.
Transfer:
Current NYS employee with one year or more of permanent or contingent-permanent, competitive service in a title eligible to transfer under Section 52.6 or Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law to a Medical Assistance Specialist 2, G-23.
Preferred Qualifications: Preferred candidates will have strong analytical skills and the ability to pay attention to details and will also have good oral and written communication skills. Candidates should have proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access); the ability to work well independently and as part of a team and to manage multiple priorities to meet deadlines. Professional experience in public health insurance programs, including New York's Medicaid, Medicare and/or Child Health Plus and supervisory experience is a plus.
