Minimum Qualifications Candidates must be employed by New York State to be eligible to apply for this position.

Candidates must have permanent status as a Senior Auditor, Grade 18, and be eligible for lateral transfer; OR possess 24 credit hours in accounting and auditing and be eligible for transfer via Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.

Duties Description The New York State Office of Mental Health (OMH), Bureau of Audit, is recruiting to fill a Senior Auditor, G-18/Auditor Trainee, NS position. Under the supervision of an Associate Auditor, the Senior Auditor will conduct financial and operational audits of State psychiatric centers and OMH Central Office operations, as well as local providers of mental health services.

Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Review financial records, assess their accuracy, and evaluate the information against established criteria.
• Conducts the audit by performing various tests, reviews, reconciliations, and evaluations of accounts, claims, records, and procedures to ensure that transactions are processed and properly accounted for and effective controls are in place.
• Prepares working papers to document audit scope and conclusions.
• Prepares narrative reports of audit findings and recommendations.
• Follow generally accepted auditing standards as well as the International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing to complete work.
• Meet with the auditee, engage in meaningful discussions, and clearly communicate the results of the audit in a written format.

Some travel is required.
