Minimum Qualifications Must take and pass a Civil Service exam in order to maintain position. Must have either; current certification as a New York State Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC); OR a current certification as a New York State Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor Trainee (CASAC-T) and one year post certification qualifying experience; OR three years of qualifying experience. An Associate's Degree (or higher) in an **approved area may be substituted for two years experience. Which consists of professional or paraprofessional experience in a program whose primary mission is alcohol and/or substance abuse treatment. Your experience must include all of the following functions: Individual or group counseling, intake/assessment, treatment planning, case work, consultation and the development of substance use disorder diagnostic impression. **Approved Associate's or higher degree areas for this exam are: Anthropology, Audiology, Child Development/Family Relations, Community Mental Health, Chemical Dependence Administration, Correctional Study, Counseling/Guidance, Criminal Justice, Education, Gerontology, Health Administration, Health Education, Human Services, Nursing, Nutrition, Pastoral Counseling, Psychology, Public Justice, Rehabilitation Counseling, Religious Studies, Social Work, Sociology, Special Education, Speech Pathology, Therapy, and Vocational Counseling.
Duties Description Provide ongoing treatment services to offenders with problems of alcohol or substance abuse. Develop findings and conclusions based on admission and comprehensive evaluation; establish a substance abuse/dependence diagnostic impression; develop and implement a person-centered treatment plan for each offender; evaluate and document the level and quality of participation and progression and provide services to ensure a successful treatment. You would be responsible for all mandatory treatment recording.
Additional Comments Location Pay: $1513.00 per year
