Minimum Qualifications One year of permanent competitive service in an engineering position allocated to a Grade 27 or higher. Must possess a Professional Engineer's License with current NY registration.
Duties Description This position is crucial to the day to day operations of the Thruway’s Maintenance program and the New York Division’s winter operations. The position administers a Division-wide Highway Maintenance Program; Directs and coordinates snow & ice control within the Thruway Authority's NY Division, ensuring the most effective and efficient use of labor, materials and equipment; Develops work schedules and plans for preventative, corrective, and rehabilitative work and insures timely completion of these projects; Recommends major reconstruction projects; Manages and directs special highway projects and programs; Provides professional management and engineering expertise for planning, maintenance and repairs of highways and bridges; Coordinates the activities of all Division Maintenance Supervisors regarding work schedules, deadlines, performance measures, special circumstances, personnel and equipment needs; Coordinates and collaborates with other Program managers from NY, other Divisions and Headquarters.
Additional Comments An annual location differential of $3,026 will be added to base salary. This position may require occasional overnights outside the New York Division and travel within the Division boundaries. Candidate must possess a valid Class D License to operate a motor vehicle in New York State at the time of appointment and continuously maintain it thereafter or face disciplinary action up to and including termination.
