Minimum Qualifications CJPR 1 (Administration), SG-18: Permanent service in this title, or one year of permanent competitive or 55b/c service in a title SG-16 or higher, and otherwise eligible for transfer.

CJPR (Administration) Trainee, NS: One year of permanent competitive or 55 b/c service in a title allocated to SG-11 (see below) or higher, and otherwise eligible to transfer under Civil Service Law. Transfer does require that candidate have a bachelor's or higher degree in one of the following disciplines: Bachelor's or higher degree in Correctional Studies, Criminal Justice, Criminal Science, Criminology, Forensics, Justice Studies, Law Enforcement, Public Justice, or Sociology and meet other transfer requirements.


Duties Description The Criminal Justice Program Representative 1 (Administration) will be assigned to the Office of Public Safety and will report to an Associate Training Technician (Police), SG-23. The incumbent will be responsible for the following: reviewing and approving security guard school and instructor applications; performing site inspections of security guard schools to ensure compliance with Program rules and regulations pursuant to Executive Law § 841 (a)(b)(c) and 9 NYCRR 6027-29; conducting inquiries of schools and instructors for non-compliance with rules and regulations; conducting training for school applicants; assisting with the design, development, evaluation and administration of security guard training programs; communicating with the Department of State (DOS) on matters of mutual concern as DOS is responsible for the licensing of security guard companies and the registration of security guards; facilitating and/or delivering informational programs for security guard school directors and instructors; and reviewing and approving security guard training courses which are developed by DCJS security guard unit staff pursuant to 9 NYCRR 6027. In addition, the CJPR1 (Administration) will review proposed peace and police Officer training curriculum which is submitted by law enforcement academies to ensure they are in conformance with existing standards; review information received in complaints from law enforcement agencies and/or the general public in regard to peace and police officer training and assess information against existing standards; review information received from police departments regarding the appointment, removal and/or promotion of police officers and entering information into the Central Registry of Police and Peace Officers; and handle other projects and assignments as directed by supervisor.
