Minimum Qualifications Current NYS employee with one year or more of permanent or contingent-permanent, competitive service as a Secretary 1, OR a NYS employee with one year or more of permanent or contingent-permanent, competitive service in a position allocated to a salary grade 9 or above and eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.
Preferred Qualifications: The preferred candidate will have familiarity with Public Health and Domestic Relations laws and their application to vital event records, the Health Commissioners Official Rules and Regulations and all other Section, Bureau and DOH rules and regulations regarding privacy and confidentiality, excellent communication, analytical and organizational skills. Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel spreadsheets and Outlook. Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple assignments, while supervising subordinate staff.
Duties Description The Secretary 1 will provide administrative support for the Bureau of Vital Records. Responsibilities may include: coordinating and arranging meetings; transmitting instructions to staff and following up; handling telephone calls and visitors and responding to questions; sorting, filing, and review of documents, and other administrative tasks necessary to support the work of the Bureau.
