Minimum Qualifications A. Experience
Four (4) years of progressively responsible administrative, consultative or supervisory experience in a mental health program including one of the following:
1. One (1) year of satisfactory experience in a position as
administrative head of a multi-disciplinary treatment team;
2. One (1) year of satisfactory supervisory, professional, or
administrative experience in the development, operation, and/or
implementation of the mental health service delivery system for
State facilities, counties, or local/private agencies in two (2) or
more of the following areas: program development, management
procedures, community organization, resource planning, funding,
program proposals, advisory boards, consumer and community
advocacy and intergovernmental relations.
A Master's degree in a mental hygiene discipline (including physician assistant, occupational therapy, physical therapy, social work, speech pathology and audiology, communication disorders, psychology, recreation therapy, rehabilitation counseling, education, nursing), hospital administration, community mental health, business or public administration or other administrative area specifically related to health care, behavioral or social science from an accredited school; or a valid license to practice medicine in New York State or Canada. Current registration or licensure required where applicable.
Additionally, all candidates must be eligible to participate in Federal health care programs (e.g., Medicaid). Individuals excluded from participation in these programs will not be considered.
Duties Description Reporting to the Deputy Director, Psychiatric Center 2 - Operations, the DDPC 1 Operations will be responsible for all inpatient services, which includes a total of 161 beds. The DDPC 1 Operations will plan, coordinate, and evaluate comprehensive care and treatment programs for the facility’s seven (7) inpatient units. The selected candidate will supervise and direct treatment team leaders and various staff in the delivery of care and treatment services to individuals with mental illness; engage facility leadership, mental health representatives, families, private groups, and individuals with mental illness to ensure the most effective and efficient delivery of care and treatment services; maintain inpatient census at optimum levels and ensure that median length of stay does not exceed parameters set by OMH or facility policy; supervise, coordinate, and direct the activities of subordinate managers in inpatient program areas; monitor and oversee inpatient staffing, assignments, and work schedules to ensure quality patient care; review the scope and details of existing facility inpatient active treatment programs in a given area to assess their value; monitor facility admissions and discharge processes to maintain easy access to inpatient care; oversee environmental reviews to ensure safe and therapeutic patient environments; and maintain compliance with the regulatory environment, including standards and regulations of The Joint Commission, Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, and Inspection of Care surveys in order to maintain excellence in care and services.
Additional Comments Salary: $104,640 - $132,054 plus $3,026 Location Pay
Kingsboro Psychiatric Center (KPC), a State-operated facility located in Brooklyn, New York, is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Deputy Director, Psychiatric Center 1 – Operations (DDPC 1 Operations) to oversee inpatient services.
