Minimum Qualifications G18 - Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or a related field and two years of professional post degree research experience in the appropriate field; or a Master’s degree in chemistry and one year of professional post degree research experience in the appropriate field.
G22 – Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or a related field and three years of professional post degree research experience in the appropriate field; or a Master’s degree in chemistry or a related field and two years of post-degree experience in the appropriate field; or a doctorate in the appropriate field.
Preferred Qualifications: An individual meeting or exceeding minimum qualifications with professional experience that includes the use of gas chromatography, liquid chromatography, and mass spectrometry in the analysis of organic compounds. Experience in quantitative trace analysis is desirable. For the G22 position, prior supervisory experience is also desirable.
Duties Description Perform quantitative analysis for organic compounds and trace contaminants in a variety of defferent sample types. These analyses may be for the determination of trace contaminants in medical marijuana products that are distributed throughout the state as authorized under the New York State Compassionate Care Act. The incumbent will be responsible for method validations, QA/QC, writing and reviewing of SOPs, analysis of proficiency test samples and other related duties.
Additional Comments Permanent, non-competitive, fulltime. Since exposure to potentially hazardous substances may be involved with this position, the selected candidate will be required to wear personal protective clothing and equipment, and may undergo pre-employment and/or periodic health evaluations and receive specific immunizations. In addition, dependent upon the initial assignment or subsequent reassignment of this position satisfactory background checks may also be required.
