Minimum Qualifications A Master’s degree in a Natural or Physical Science, Forensic Science, Public Administration, Business Administration, Criminal Justice, or Computer Science, AND ten years’ experience as a forensic analyst/scientist, including at least seven years of supervisory laboratory management experience;
OR a Ph.D. in a Natural Science, Forensic Science, Medical Technology, or Pharmacy, AND eight years of experience as a forensic analyst/scientist, including at least seven years of supervisory laboratory management experience.
Essential knowledge and skills for this position include excellent knowledge of forensic laboratory operations and the various disciplines of forensic science, excellent knowledge of quality control/quality assurance programs, and direct knowledge of accreditation. Experience in developing and implementing technical crime laboratory procedures, quality control practices and quality assurance systems based on ABFT and ANAB legacy and International standards is highly desirable.
Duties Description The New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) is seeking a Director for the Office of Forensic Services. The Director develops and promotes a State accreditation structure for New York’s public forensic laboratories. Essential job duties include serving as DCJS’ representative to, and/or liaison with, the Commission on Forensic Science, the DNA Subcommittee and the New York Crime Laboratory Advisory Committee; researching and evaluating quality assurance and quality control methodologies, existing accreditation programs and minimum standards for forensic DNA analysis; advising DCJS on distribution of funds for public forensic labs; coordinating a centralized forensic training program; surveying law enforcement to assess the needs of the criminal justice system with respect to forensic services; representing DCJS at professional forensic and criminal justice association meetings; and supervising a professional staff. This position will be located at DCJS in Albany, New York.

SALARY EFFECTIVE 4/5/18 IS $123,169 ANNUALLY, OR COMMENSURATE WITH EXPERIENCE
