Minimum Qualifications A. Experience

Five (5) years of progressively responsible administrative, consultative or supervisory experience in a mental health program including one of the following:

1. One (1) year of satisfactory experience in a position comparable
to a Clinical Chief of Service (COS) or Director of Mental Health
Rehabilitation;

OR

2. Two (2) years of satisfactory experience in a position as
administrative head of a multi-disciplinary treatment team;

OR

3. Two (2) years of satisfactory supervisory, professional, or
administrative experience in the development, operation, and/or
implementation of the mental health service delivery system for
State facilities, counties, or local/private agencies in three (3) or
more of the following areas: program development, management
procedures, community organization, resource planning, funding,
program proposals, advisory boards, consumer and community
advocacy and intergovernmental relations.

AND

B. Education

A Master's degree in a mental hygiene discipline (including physician assistant, occupational therapy, physical therapy, social work, speech pathology and audiology, communication disorders, psychology, recreation therapy, rehabilitation counseling, education, nursing), hospital administration, community mental health, business or public administration or other administrative area specifically related to health care, behavioral or social science from an accredited school; or a valid license to practice medicine in New York State or Canada. Current registration or licensure required where applicable.

Additionally, all candidates must be eligible to participate in Federal health care programs (e.g., Medicaid). Individuals excluded from participation in these programs will not be considered.

Duties Description The DDPC 2 Operations is an essential member of the Executive Management Team at BPC. As such, the DDPC 2 Operations is expected to be a leader in advancing the value of respect and a belief in hope and recovery for the people we serve. Under the general direction of the Executive Director and in close collaboration with the Clinical Director, the DDPC 2 Operations will design, develop, evaluate and ensure the effective operation of the facility’s inpatient and outpatient treatment programs. The DDPC 2 Operations will participate in the development of the facility’s short and long range goals; establish policies and procedures to ensure efficient and effective service delivery; supervise, coordinate, and direct the activities of subordinate managers in administrative and operational program areas; monitor and oversee staffing, assignments, and work schedules to ensure quality patient care; and establish and maintain safe environments for patient care with a focus on evidence-based programs, cultural competence, and community care.

Additional Comments Buffalo Psychiatric Center (BPC) is seeking qualified candidates for
an anticipated vacancy for the position of Deputy Director, Psychiatric Center 2 – Operations (DDPC 2 Operations). BPC is a 156-bed, State-operated, Joint Commission accredited, and CMS certified facility which provides adult inpatient, community services, residential, vocational, and wellness services to individuals residing in Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Erie, and Niagara counties.
