Minimum Qualifications Candidates must have permanent appointment in a Communications and Security Specialist, SG-10, classified position or be reachable for appointment on the current NY State Civil Service canvass list for a Communications and Security Specialist, SG-10. SUNY Geneseo requires an active security guard license

New York State Preferred Lists candidates have preference.

Duties Description SUNY Geneseo is searching for a Communications and Security Specialist. The incumbent will provide communications, security and public safety services within a 24/7 operation in the University Police Departments of the State University of New York (SUNY). Their primary responsibility is to function as a desk officer, performing dispatching activities, and using various databases, online systems, and multiple video sources. Where appropriate, a CSS may perform patrol duties including, but not limited to, building guard, parking enforcement, foot patrol, and other related duties in support of assisting University Police Officers. Incumbents are given direction regarding assignments, briefing on current problems at the beginning of the shift, and instruction in job-related law enforcement techniques.
