Candidates must be current Office of Mental Health employees with permanent or contingent-permanent service as a Mental Health Program Specialist 2 and interested in reassignment; OR Candidates must be eligible to transfer via Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.
Duties Description The Office of Mental Health (OMH) is currently recruiting to fill a Mental Health Program Specialist 2, Grade 23, position to be located in the New York City Field Office to work directly with the Director of Managed Care Business Development and the Medical Director of the Inpatient (IP) Referral System.
The incumbent will be assigned to work on a quality improvement initiative related to the State Operations Residential Systems Transformation and improving the success and rate of placement of residents into community housing. They will work collaboratively with each OHM Psychiatric Center’s leadership team, residential program staff, Field Offices, Central Office leadership and staff to achieve targeted goals such as increased placement, increase restorative service activity, and decrease length of stay.
This position will also be involved in the Inpatient Referral System and, when needed, assist with coordinating and covering clinical referral review calls with some OHM Psychiatric Center admission teams. The Inpatient Referral system initiative also involves communication and training for providers and OHM Staff regarding standardization of forms and processes, working with the HCS system and working
with the Medical Director of the Inpatient Referral System.
Other duties may include scheduling and facilitating waitlist review calls with OMH Psychiatric Centers, Administrative reviews of referrals, accurate documentation of progress and status packets in the referral process.
Some travel will be required based on assignments.
Project Management experience and familiarity with LEAN principles are encouraged to apply.
