Minimum Qualifications Vocational Instructor 1-4 (Custodial Maintenance)

For Vocational Instructor 1:
I. four years of appropriate trade experience and a high school diploma or high school equivalency diploma issued by a recognized state educational authority;
Or II. an associate's degree in a related trade area and two years of appropriate trade experience;
Or III. a bachelor's degree in any area and one year of appropriate trade experience.
For Vocational Instructor 2:
I. four years of appropriate trade experience and a minimum of 12 college credits in pedagogy core coursework earned from a New York State Education Department approved program. These must include 3 college credits in each of the following areas: human development and learning; teaching students with disabilities and special health needs; curriculum, instruction, and assessment; and English language arts or communication skills;
Or II. an associate's degree in a related trade area including or supplemented by 12 college credits of pedagogy core coursework earned from a New York State Education Department approved program. These must include 3 college credits in each of the following areas: human development and learning; teaching students with disabilities and special health needs; curriculum, instruction, and assessment; and English language arts or communication skills; and two years of related trade experience;
Or III. a bachelor's degree in any area including or supplemented by 12 college credits of pedagogy core coursework earned from a New York State Education Department approved program. These must include 3 college credits in each of the following areas: human development and learning; teaching students with disabilities and special health needs; curriculum, instruction, and assessment; and English language arts or communication skills; and one year of related trade experience.
For Vocational Instructor 3: Initial certification as a teacher of trade subjects in the appropriate specialty as issued by the New York State Education Department.
For Vocational Instructor 4: Professional certification as a teacher of trade subjects in the appropriate specialty as issued by the New York State Education Department.

Duties Description Plan lessons and instruct and evaluate the performance and progress of leaners. Instruction includes a verbal and written presentation of theoretical along with demonstrations of practical applications of that theory. Instructors at all four levels, instruct a course in a vocational specialty. Prepare or modify course outlines and prepare daily or weekly lesson plans. Demonstration for learners supervise practical applications of formal instruction. Conduct evaluations of the performance and progress of learners.

Additional Comments If hired provisional will have to take a Civil Service exam and be reachable.

Position hours will be 7:45AM - 3:45PM.
