Admission to the New York State Bar and current registration to practice law in New York State is necessary for continued employment. Disbarment or loss of registration shall result in termination or suspension of employment.

52.6 TRANSFER QUALIFICATIONS: You may qualify for transfer if you have one year of permanent competitive service in a title allocated to a Grade 23 above and your title is designated “Administrative” under Section 52.6 of the Civil Service Law.
Transfer candidates must also possess a law degree from an accredited college or university and be able to provide evidence of current registration to practice law in New York State.
Duties Description STANDARD DUTIES
Under the supervision of an Associate Attorney, the Senior Attorney will represent the Department at administrative hearings involving Unemployment Insurance (UI), Workforce Investment Act, Employment Service, Apprenticeship and Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act in matters which include the preparation and presentation of the Department’s case. The Senior Attorney will also provide extensive litigation support to the Assistant Attorney General that is representing the Department in administrative cases that are appealed to the Courts and will prepare written opinions on legal questions related to Unemployment Insurance (UI), Workforce Investment Act, Employment Service, Apprenticeship and Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act.
