Minimum Qualifications A current NYS Department of Health employee with permanent or contingent-permanent, competitive status as a Community Health Program Manager 1 (M2) OR a NYS employee with one year or more of permanent or contingent-permanent, competitive service in a title at or above a G25/M1 and deemed eligible for transfer under Section 52.6 of the NYS Civil Service Law.
Experience in the management of public health programs. Knowledge of immunization recommendations and vaccine preventable diseases. Preferred candidate should evidence a strong understanding of state government management processes, including fiscal, legislative and personnel, and possess strong oral and written communication skills.

Duties Description The Community Health Program Manager 1 (CHPM1) will oversee the NYS Vaccine Program. Responsibilities include oversight and planning for the annual distribution of over $100 million of vaccine; oversight and policy implementation for the approximately 2,000 providers in the Vaccines for Children (VFC) and the Vaccines for Adults (VFA) programs, including provider enrollment, VFC compliance site visits, vaccine loss/restitution, vaccine accountability and provider storage and handling; development of education materials for health care providers and the public; use of multiple information systems; coordination of data quality assurance activities; participation in outreach activities, including public speaking; and supervision of staff. Position includes directing a team of about 15 staff in Albany and about 20 staff in regional offices throughout the state

Additional Comments Permanent, full-time, competitive appointment. Occasional travel, including overnight, to areas that may not be served by public transportation is required
