Minimum Qualifications Candidates must have one year of experience in the operation of tractors or other self-propelled equipment and possession of a valid New York State driver’s license appropriate for the type of vehicle operated. For this position, a New York State Class B CDL with Air Brake endorsement is required.
Duties Description Specific duties and job requirements will include, but not be limited to, the following:
•Operates a variety of self-propelled equipment in the construction, repair and maintenance of the canals, approaches and grounds;
•Performs laboring tasks;
•Works as part of a crew;
•Monitors gauges and fluid levels of machines during work;
•Performs routine maintenance and repairs on machines to assure safe and efficient operation and;
•Maintains daily records of work performed and materials used.
Examples of highway equipment incumbent may be expected to operate:
•Small front-end loaders
•Tractor mowers
•Tree sprayers
•Road graders
•Patching rollers
•Snowplows
Some positions may require additional credentials or a background check to verify your identity.
