Minimum Qualifications Permanent Transfer Candidates: Current DOH employee with permanent status as a Consultant Nurse HNSA, G-24 OR current New York State employee with one year of permanent or contingent-permanent service in a qualified title and eligible for transfer to Consultant Nurse HNSA under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law OR eligible for transfer under Section 70.4 of the Civil Service Law (NYS employee with one year of permanent service at G-22 or higher and meeting the open competitive minimum qualifications listed below).
Provisional Open Competitive Minimum Qualifications: Currently licensed and registered as a professional nurse in New York State (R.N.); AND four years of public health, community health, or other nursing experience in an appropriate facility setting. Two years of this experience must have been providing direct patient care and two years of this experience must have been in nursing supervision, or working in the capacity of a nurse administrator.
Professional clinical experience in a Nursing Home setting; excellent interpersonal, communication and writing skills; review and assess/evaluate documentation related to nursing home investigations, statements of deficiencies and plans of correction; experience in the surveillance and enforcement of nursing homes; the ability to make determinations relative to facility compliance; and experienced in a team environment.
Duties Description The Consultant Nurse Hospital Nursing Services Administration, will serve as a Complaint Manager in the Long Term Care Program, ensuring that nursing homes are in compliance with State and Federal regulations. Typical responsibilities include: on and off-site complaint investigations, prioritizing complaints, managing workloads, supervision and training of staff, oversight of the investigation process and report writing, interaction with program staff, central office and the public.
