Minimum Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:
•Applicants must have two years of offset printing equipment operating experience or one year of service as a Print Equipment Operator 1
•Experience running and maintaining digital presses/copiers such as the Ricoh C7110X, Konica Minolta C1070 and the Konica Minolta 1250
•Experience running and maintaining large-format printers such as Mutoh and the Epson Pro 9700
•Ability to multitask, make decisions and work independently
•Proven analytical and decision-making skills; good communications skills
•Knowledge and working skills in Adobe Acrobat, Quite Imposing 2, Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Powerpoint, Publisher, Print Shop Mail, Microsoft Office 365 suite, including SharePoint
Duties Description SUNY Empire State College, Office of Administration, seeks a Print Equipment Operator 2 at our Saratoga Springs, New York location.
The primary focus of this noncompetitive position is running and maintaining the digital equipment within the print shop to produce high-quality, professional printed matter on a variety of stocks and substrates, in promotion of the college and support of its mission.
Duties for the position include, but are not limited to:
•Operating all copiers in the print shop (Konica Minolta 1250 black-only digital press; Konica Minolta C1070 color digital press for full-color copying and printing and scanning; Ricoh C7110X color digital press, which offers the options for a fifth color (white) and spot and flood clear coating)
•Operating the Mutoh and Epson PRO9700 large-format printers for large print materials on a variety of substrates up to 64 inches
•Keeping track of and ordering of supplies for all copiers and large-format printers in the print shop
•Placing service calls as the point of contact when needed to address performance issues/production problems
•Converting files to PDFs for clients, saving, renaming accurately and burning CDs and flash drives for easy storage
•Using Print Shop Mail for variable data projects to meet postal and other guidelines
•Using Adobe Acrobat plug-in Quite Imposing Plus 2 for jobs that require step and repeat, pagination, joining of pages and creating booklets
•Using programs such as Photoshop or Adobe Acrobat to set up projects for the print shop's wide-format printers
•Printing out electronic print requests, maintaining a log of all jobs assisting in computing cost for finished projects
•Assembling various documents for inclusion in one PDF for printing or for posting on the web
•Provide advice to clients unfamiliar with the various types and steps in the printing process
•Answering phone calls and questions pertaining to print shop-related inquiries
•Systematically checking emails for new projects and additional developments in work in progress
