Minimum Qualifications Current NYS employee with one year of permanent or contingent-permanent service as a Senior Architect OR current New York State employee with one year of permanent or contingent-permanent service in a qualifying title and eligible to transfer under section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law OR one year of permanent or contingent-permanent service in a G-22 or higher position and meeting the following qualifications for Section 70.4 transfer: must have a New York State Professional Architect’s License and Current Registration.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience in project development of Health Care Facilities; experience on major construction projects including review and approval of program, preliminary design and final construction documents; experience in program analysis including coordination of NYS regulatory requirements; experience in NFPA, Life Safety Codes and NYS Building Codes for health care facility planning; PC proficiency and plan review.
Duties Description Reporting to an Associate Architect/Team Leader in the Bureau of Architecture and Engineering Review (BAER), the Senior Architect performs a wide variety of tasks to ensure that health care facilities comply with all applicable state, federal and local laws, rules and regulations. Reviews designs, plans and specifications for renovation and new construction of health care facilities for conformance to the State Hospital Code and Standards of Construction for Medical Facilities. May perform regional on-site inspections of projects under construction. May perform onsite construction inspection, prepare reports including changes to be made and approves the facility’s plan to comply with the changes. Serves as the regional technical expert to Department of Health surveillance surveyors in regional offices regarding technical code clarifications and the application of such codes that affect patients and residents of health facilities. Performs evaluations of codes and regulations and interprets requirements for consultant architects, engineers and regional office technical staff.
Additional Comments Permanent, full time. You must submit proof of your New York State Architect’s License and current registration at the interview to be considered for appointment.
