Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree and four years of family and children services experience* including or supplemented by two years in the planning, development or delivery of child abuse and/or neglect programs.
This experience must include or be supplemented by one year of investigative experience and one year of professional level supervision. (The one year of professional level supervision may be substituted by two years of successful permanent experience as a Child Abuse Specialist 1)
*Children and family services experience may include, but is not limited to, adoption services, foster care services for children and/or adults, preventive services and protective services for children and/or adults.
Duties Description Oversight, monitoring and the provision of technical assistance regarding child protective services to the Local Departments of Social Services in a nine-county region. This includes ensuring required activities are completed in the after math of child fatality reviews. This is fulfilled through direct participation in oversight activities and supervision of Rochester Regional Office staff.
Coordination, supervision and participation in program reviews conducted in Local Departments of Social Services and Voluntary Agencies providing residential care to children in foster care. This is performed in collaboration with RRO Supervisors and Regional Director.
Supervision of the certification, oversight and provision of technical assistance to agencies providing residential services to victims of domestic violence.
Supervision of the licensing, oversight and provision of technical assistance to agencies providing services to runaway and homeless youth.
Represent OCFS RRO at regional forums related to child welfare including child protective services, foster care, adoption and preventive services.
Providing back-up leadership at RRO as needed and assist Regional Director in day to day office operations
Supervision of subordinate staff
