Minimum Qualifications Graduate Interns: Preferred candidates have completed one year of study in at least one of the following areas: public administration, economics, business administration, public policy or public affairs.
Undergraduate Interns: Preferred candidates have completed course work study in at least one of the following areas: public administration, economics, business administration, public policy or public affairs.
Applicants should possess strong analytical and writing skills, demonstrate an attention to detail, possess good interpersonal skills, and have the ability to work well both independently and as part of a team. An interest in mental hygiene issues is required.
Duties Description The Mental Hygiene and Labor Relations Unit budgets for the following agencies: Office of Mental Health (OMH), Office for People with Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD), the Justice Center for the Protection of People with Special Needs, the Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services (OASAS) and the Developmental Disabilities Planning Council (DDPC). The unit is also responsible for budgeting general state charges, employee fringe benefits and other collective bargaining issues.

This internship is an opportunity to work on OMH and OASAS state operations budgets. The intern will be responsible for analysis, oversight and development of budget/policy recommendations in assigned program areas, including workforce analysis and forecasting / monitoring gross revenues.
