Minimum Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:
Two years of experience in plumbing and/or steamfitting work under the supervision of a skilled tradesperson, or completion of an appropriate two-year technical school course in the plumbing and/or steamfitting trade.

Candidates will be required to explain and demonstrate their skills and competency for this position.

Candidate must have the ability to stand, bend, stoop, sit, twist, and work at elevated heights using ladders and scaffolds and restricted access areas such as air handling units for extended periods of time.

Successful candidates in the position must be able to effectively communicate with coworkers, supervisors and the campus community. This position may require you to work in a team so the candidate should have strong interpersonal and teamwork skills. The candidate must possess and have proven positive customer service skills; must also possess good listening skills and be able to understand and follow written and/or oral instructions.

Since the activities of other employees depend upon the availability of the employee in this position, reliable attendance is a factor that will be considered when filling this vacancy.

This position requires traveling within and between campuses. A valid license to operate a motor vehicle in NYS is preferred, or candidate should otherwise demonstrate his/her capacity to meet the transportation needs of the position.

Preferred Qualifications:
Certifications earned, completed relevant training, or other documentation that illustrates depth in this trade. Experience with RODI systems is desirable.

Duties Description You will be responsible for completing the tasks listed below as a Maintenance Assistant Plumber & Steamfitter in Facilities Campus Operations:

• Demonstrating proficiency in the safe use of hand and power tools.
• Assisting with the installation, repair and constructions tasks in the mechanical, building, motor equipment, HVAC, plumbing and electrical trades
• Assisting journey level staff in the completion of complex projects and installations.
• Possessing basic knowledge of mechanical equipment used in building HVAC systems, plumbing and sprinkler systems
• Responding to after hour calls resulting from equipment and system failures that may arise at any time of day or any day of the week.
