Minimum Qualifications Minimum Qualifications
A Bachelor’s degree and 7 years of professional level human resources experience, including 5 years at the supervisory level; or an HR related advanced degree (i.e. MBA, MPA) and 5 years of professional level human resources experience at the supervisory level.

-Experience administering or overseeing administration of benefits
-Experience interpreting and applying the NY State Civil Service Law
-Experience with the FMLA
-Experience with COBRA
-Experience responding to human rights complaints
-Experience developing formal policies
-HR related advanced degree
-SHRM and/or HRCI Certified
-IPMA Certified
-Experience giving presentations
-Experience working with Microsoft Excel
Duties Description The Assistant Manager of Human Resources is responsible for, but not limited to, the following duties:
- Providing direct day-to-day supervision and oversight of the following units:
Recruitment and Employee Benefits (25%)
Employee Relations (25%)
Training (25%)
- Working with Executives and Managers on day-to-day and strategic human resources issues (15%)
- Acting as the liaison with outside agencies and stakeholders (10%)
Additional Comments This position does not come under the jurisdiction of the Department of Civil Service. It comes under the Manager/Executive Plan. New appointees to Manager/Executive Plan positions must serve a one-year review period.
