Minimum Qualifications Transfer Opportunity -
Be eligible to transfer via Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law. To qualify for a Section 70.1 transfer, candidates must have at least one year of permanent status, in a qualifying title approved for transfer by Civil Service, within two salary grades of the M-1 level.

You must be qualified NYS employee and had one year of permanent competitive or 55b/c service as a Security Hospital Supervising Treatment Assistant, Grade 20.
Candidates appointed provisionally must take the next scheduled Civil Service examination for this title, and their score must be reachable on the resulting eligible list before they can be permanently appointed. Candidates who do not pass the examination or achieve a reachable score may not be retained.
Duties Description As a Security Hospital Treatment Chief, you would function as the overall manager of all Security Hospital Treatment Assistants (SHTAs) assigned to the forensic facility, across all shifts, and:
• Plan and direct the therapeutic and custodial care program;
• Direct training of subordinates; establish performance
standards;
• Coordinate the activities of subordinates with other activities
of the hospital;
• Plan policies and procedures for the control of riots, fires,
assaults, escapes, and other emergencies;
• Instruct subordinate staff in treatment methods and goals
appropriate to individual patients and changes in methods as
treatment progresses;
• Establish procedures for informing all staff on the status of
patients with regard to the criminal law.
Additional Comments Background Investigation/Justice Center Review:
Prospective appointees will be: 1) Checked against the Staff Exclusion List (SEL) maintained by the Justice Center for the Protection of People with Special Needs. Prospective employees whose names appear on the SEL as having been found responsible for serious or repeated acts of abuse or neglect will be barred from appointment and may have their names removed from the eligible list(s) for the title(s) if applicable. 2) Investigated through a Criminal Background Check (CBC), which includes State and federal Criminal History Record Checks. All convictions must be reported; conviction of a felony or misdemeanor, or any falsified or omitted information on the prospective appointee’s employment application, may bar appointment or result in removal after appointment. Each case will be determined on its own merits, consistent with the applicable provisions of State and federal laws, rules, and regulations. Prospective employees will be fingerprinted in order to obtain a record of their criminal history information, and may be required to pay any necessary fees. 3) Screened against the Statewide Central Register of Child Abuse and Maltreatment (SCR). Prospective employees may be required to pay any necessary fees. Additionally, prospective employees whose names are indicated on the SCR may be barred from appointment.

This position is eligible for a Downstate Adjustment of $3,026.
