Minimum Qualifications Current NYS employee with one year or more of permanent or contingent-permanent, competitive service as a Secretary 1, OR a NYS employee with one year or more of permanent or contingent-permanent, competitive service in a position allocated to a salary grade 9 or above and eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.

Candidates not currently serving in a keyboarding title will be required to take and pass a keyboarding examination to qualify for appointment.

Preferred Qualifications: The preferred candidate will have strong organizational skills; experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook; excellent verbal and written skills; strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to prioritize work load.

Duties Description The Secretary 1 is responsible for providing support services to the Bureau of Immunization. Duties include: Answering telephone calls from the public, medical community and schools; monitoring the Bureau email account, making travel arrangements; maintaining calendars; scheduling webinars, conference calls and meeting; preparing and tracking correspondence; reviewing and distributing incoming mail; supervising and training other support staff; setting up new staff members with necessary user accounts and computer access, preparing print and mail orders, and other projects as assigned.
