Minimum Qualifications Current NYS employee with one year or more of permanent or contingent-permanent, competitive service as an Office Assistant 2 Stores/Mail (G9), OR a NYS employee with one year or more of permanent or contingent-permanent, competitive service in a position allocated to a salary grade 7 or above and eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience with inventory procedures, mailroom operations and customer service. Proficient computer skills including spreadsheet and word processing software. The ability to work in a fast-paced environment in a professional manner, manage multiple activities and meet deadlines. Knowledge of DOH Wadsworth Center policies and supervisor experience a plus.
Duties Description This position is located within the NYS Department of Health/Wadsworth Center Mail and Receiving Assets Management Office. Duties will include but are not limited to: Mail delivery/pickup, USPS Mail processing, accept and process outgoing letters, packages, crates and pallets. This position will also field inquiries regarding deliveries, tag equipment, operate any motor vehicle that is allowed with a D Class NYS Driver’s License to transport mail/shipping items as well as supplies/equipment as required, and supervise/train lower-level staff.
Additional Comments Permanent, full-time appointment. This position requires the ability to routinely lift and/or carry heavy items and requires the ability to routinely reach, bend, stand and walk for long periods of time. A non-conditional Class D NYS Driver’s License is required for this position, as well as a Saturday and/or Sunday 3-hour morning delivery shift may be required.
