Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must be physically able to perform the duties assigned, including the ability to perform activities requiring medium to heavy lifting. Candidates must also possess a valid New York State driver’s license.

Duties Description The New York State Education Department’s Office of Facilities and Business Services is seeking candidates for a Facility Operations Assistant 1 position. Duties of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Empty recyclables and garbage;
• Keep areas swept, mopped, and clean of all dust and debris;
• Assist with the shipping of secure state exams, including operating UPS labeling software;
• Remove boxes from trucks and stack them on pallets;
• Deliver and pickup recycle bins, pallets, boxes, and surplus materials throughout the building;
• Deliver copy paper to various offices and locations;
• Operate shrink wrapper, bubble wrapper, pallet jacks, and pallet lifts, and perform maintenance on equipment as needed;
• Load and unload tractor trailers as needed;
• Move rolls and pallets of paper using a powered pallet jack or fork lift;
• Move boxes and other heavy equipment and material;
• Stack pallets and rolls of paper safely using a fork lift;
• Stack printed materials and exams, and check for deficiencies including wrinkles and uneven folds; and
• Perform other duties as needed.

Additional Comments CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: This will be a permanent appointment. Promotions and transfers may change appointee’s negotiating unit. Applicants should be aware that changes in negotiating units may affect their salary, insurance, and other benefits. Verification of a valid New York State driver’s license will be required at the time of interview for all candidates. Candidates are required to possess a valid New York State driver’s license at the time of hire. Continued employment as a Facility Operations Assistant 1 is dependent upon maintaining a valid New York State driver’s license. Failure to maintain a valid New York State driver’s license will result in removal from employment. The work schedule for this position includes hours of Monday through Friday, 7:30am-3:30pm.

*Leads to a maximum salary of $37,891 with annual performance advances.
