Minimum Qualifications Active list candidate on the New York State Department of Civil Service’s Professional Career Opportunities (PCO) eligible list #26-240 with a score of 100.0 or higher OR qualified 55B/C candidate in possession of a Bachelor’s or higher degree.
Preferred Qualifications: The preferred candidate will have strong data collection and analytical skills, experience in the development and implementation of program policies, and in the administration and operation of health programs. Good writing and communication skills are essential.
Duties Description This position is in the Program Quality and Communication Section (PQCS) of the Bureau of Supplemental Food Programs (BSFP) responsible for WIC Eligibility policies, communication with local agency contractors and the annual Local Agency Compliance and Self-Assessment (LACASA) for the New York State (NYS) Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC). Currently, the NYS WIC Program serves a monthly caseload of approximately 425,000 participants through 91 local WIC agency contracts valued at $134 million.
The Health Program Administrator (HPA) position will assist the LACASA team leader and workgroup to identify annual focus areas to evaluate the quality of WIC services provided by local agency contractors. The HPA will assist the LACASA team to establish program metrics; and coordinate and communicate technical guidance to local agency contractors on an annual basis. The HPA will be responsible for compiling program information from various sources/database systems including OBIEE. The HPA will be responsible for the interpretation of Federal regulations to develop policies and procedures for the WIC Program for areas including research requests and data sharing.
Additional Comments Permanent or contingent-permanent, full-time. Occasional travel within New York State, including overnights and to locations that may not be served by public transportation, may be required. This is a two-year traineeship leading to a G18.
