Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Must currently be a permanent Nutrition Services Administrator 2, grade 23.
OR
2. Must be active and reachable on the Civil Service Eligible List for Nutrition Services Administrator 2.
OR
3. Eligible for 70.1 Transfer by way of current permanent status in a title deemed comparable to Nutrition Services Administrator 2 by the Department of Civil Service (Must also be within 2 salary grades of the targeted title).
OR
4. Qualified for a provisional* appointment to Nutrition Services Administrator 2. (Minimum
Qualifications are one-year permanent service as a Nutrition Services Administrator 1) OR two years
as a Dietitian 2.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR PROVISIONAL APPOINTMENT:

For qualified employees of New York State: Must be a qualified employee of New York State and have had one year permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service as a Nutrition Services Administrator 1 OR two years as a Dietitian 2, AND

Either 1. have a current registration with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) as a Registered Dietitian (RD);

Or 2. have your New York State Education Department (NYSED) certification in dietetics-nutrition AND have completed a minimum of an additional 400 hours** of supervised dietetics practice under the supervision of an RD.

** The additional 400 hours required is in addition to the 800 hours of supervised dietetics practice under the supervision of an RD required for NYSED certification. On your application, you must provide the name of the institution where you obtained the additional hours; the name of your supervisor; and your supervisor's qualifications.

Open-Competitive - Open to the Public

Three years of post-registration/certification professional administrative experience* in a food or nutrition program of which one year MUST have included supervision; AND;

Duties Description PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provide oversight of nutritional services to over nine hundred individuals residing at Rockland, Westchester & Orange counties.
• Responsible for clinical and administrative supervision of nine HVDDSOO clinical dietitians.
• Reviews the dietitians’ monthly productivity reports, weekly meal observation reports and sampling individuals’ nutritional assessments.
• Complete/Perform appraisals of subordinates.
• Conducts NEO and other nutrition related trainings.
• Provide direction and leadership to the department and ensure adequate nutritional coverage at the absence of assigned dietitian.
• Clinical case load of about forty individuals and is responsible to provide nutritional diagnosis and medical nutrition therapy to the individuals with diabetes, obesity, GI malfunctions, cardiovascular diseases, renal and kidney disorders & others nutritionally related problems.
• Further responsibilities include annual nutritional assessments, semiannual reviews, developing of seasonal menus tailored to the individuals’ nutritional needs, meal observations, food safety & sanitation inspections staff dietary training & individuals’ nutritional education.
